Vance, I'm just back from our CALL SIG meeting and couldn't wait to say THANK YOU for making things so easy. The teachers in the group all succeeded in joining Robin Good's session! Even though we were working from a cybercafe and most of them had never attended a live session before.

I'm sure this can't have been easy, but you have the talent to make complicated things appear simple. Accessibility is perfect. The sessions can be reached from many different links and in many different ways. I chose to enter through Google since some of the girls are complete newbies and I wanted to keep things as simple as possible.

Once Robin's session was over, we continued exploring and discovered that from UsStream we could see past sessions. Wonderful! I take my hat off!

Vance, James,

Thanks for your links, tips and suggestions. What I had in mind was mainly Elluminate or any other venue other than Second Life. Being a newbie myself at SL, I wouldn't dare to try it in an unfamiliar environment. Besides, I don't think a regular cybercafe would meet the necessary requirements to run the program. I'm not even sure they will allow access to Elluminate, for that matter.

Vance, unfortunately our group does not have access to a classroom or lab like the one you suggest. That's why we hold our monthly meetings in a cybercafe. Anyway, we are not such a big group, and next Saturday there'll be even fewer of us, since it's a "long weekend" here in Argentina because of the 25th national holiday. So I think I'll give it a try and experiment a bit. Even if we don't succeed in joining a session, I'm sure we'll all learn a lot in the process.

Let's see what happens. Thanks again for your support!

May I point you to this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capability_Maturity_Model
(by the US Dept. of Defense and Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh)

Check the assessment scale CMM Level 1-5, page 11

Capability Maturity Level 1: Initial

At maturity level 1, processes are usually ad hoc and chaotic. The organization usually does not provide a stable environment. Success in these organizations depends on the competence and heroics of the people in the organization and not on the use of proven processes. In spite of this ad hoc, chaotic environment, maturity level 1 organizations often produce products and services that work; however, they frequently exceed the budget and schedule of their projects. Maturity level 1 organizations are characterized by a tendency to over commit, abandon processes in the time of crisis, and not be able to repeat their past successes.

Could you please diagram the setup and structural configuration...
I mean the interaction Elluminate and Second Life.
Are you streaming Elluminate into SL so that only the avatars need
to teleport to the venue and watch what is happening?
